USDA Location
The USDA South Building is located at 14th & Independence Avenue, SW., Washington, DC.

Parking
Parking in this area is limited to two-hour meters surrounding the building – there are no public lots nearby.

Metro
The USDA building is conveniently located above the Metro (Blue and Orange lines) at the Smithsonian stop. As you exit the train, follow directions for the Smithsonian/Independence Ave exit. At the top of the escalator, turn left, and walk along Independence Avenue to the last entrance (Visitors entrance - Wing 7) to the building.

Building Access
When you enter the building, you must show a recent photo ID, such as a driver’s license, and any materials you bring (purse, bag, etc) will be screened. The security personnel will have a list of registered attendees and you should identify that you are here for the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee meeting in the Jefferson Auditorium. You will receive a restricted building pass for the day, which includes access to the USDA Cafeteria. You must wear the building pass at all times, and if you exit for any reason, you will be re-screened upon reentry into the building.

Check-in Registration
Upon arrival at the Jefferson, please check in at the table where you will receive materials for the day and a badge.

Refreshments
No food and/or drink will be provided; none is permitted in the Auditorium. You will be given directions to the USDA Cafeteria (down the hall from the Jefferson Auditorium) upon arrival, where you may purchase your lunch.

Restrooms
Participants at the Jefferson Auditorium are restricted to use of the Ladies Room in Wing 5 and the Men’s Room in Wing 6. (You will be given directions when you arrive.)

Meeting Schedule
The meeting will begin both days at 8:00am and end at 4:00pm. Public testimony will take place the morning of January 29th.

The closest hotel to the USDA South Agriculture Building is the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel; please refer to the following website for specific information about the hotel and for making reservations: www.lenfantplazahotel.com. The hotel number is 202-484-1000. At this time, there are no rooms reserved specifically for this meeting.

No special arrangements are available for the press. Press may attend the public meeting as part of the general public.

Taping and Photography
Neither audio nor video taping is allowed by the public; meeting notes and transcriptions will be available online following the meeting. Photography is also not allowed.

Inclement Weather
If the government closes, the USDA South building will be closed.
